I use this book during my Diploma level. If you want to know about Quran - history, rules, qira'at, nasakh mansukh, etc - this is what I would recommend to you. The content of this book is more like academic-style, one that you need to think and study carefully. Not a book for flash reading but a good source of reference.

The Pious Predecessors (salaf) did not stop giving mutual advice for having taqwaa (fear) of Allah in their sermons, their corresponding letters and their testaments after the Messenger of Allah passed away.

The author lists 24 benefits which a believer can attain in this world due to having fear of Allah.

And 22 benefits which a believer can attain in the Hereafter due to having fear of Allah.

It has been compiled simply and concisely, with verses of the Qur'an, sayings of the Prophet (pbuh), and reports from the pious predecessors.

We ask Allah the Mighty and Majestic to make us from His servants who have fear of Him and who are thankful. All praise is due to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.

Seventy-two in the fire and one in the paradise and it is the Jammaa'ah."

Then there is no doubt that each one of these sects claims for itself that it is the saved sect, and that it is correct, and that it alone follows the Messenger. But the way of truth is a single way and it is the one which leads to salvation, and any other way is one of the ways of miss guidance which leads to destruction.

So the way of truth is to cling to the book of Allaah and the Sunnah of Allaah's Messenger (S) as occurs in the hadeeth: I have left amongst you two things whith which you will not go astray: The Book of Allah and my Sunnah, and they will not be separated till they come to me at the Pond.

From the most noble and lofty stations of cognisance is to know the Lord, the Glorious, through His beauty. This is the knowledge possessed by the elite of this creation. All of them know Him through and Attribute from amongst His Attributes but those amongst them who have the most complate cognisance are those who know Him through His perfection, magnificence and beauty. There is nothing comparable to Him in any of His Attributes, if you were to assum that the while of creation was in its most exquisite form, and you were to try and compare their collective outward and inward beauty to the beauty of the Lord, the Glorious, the comparison would be more ineffectual than a faint torch being held against the blazing dist of the sun.

This treatise has been extracted from the opening words of Shaykh Abu 'Abdu-r-Rahman Nasir as-Sa'di, may Allah have mercy upon him, to his tafsir of the Qur'an, Taysir al-Karim al-Rahman, in which he succinctly and beautifully explains those Names of Allah that occur in the Qur'an. After each explanation the translator has added some verses of the Qur'an showing the usage of the particular Name in question. It should also be noted that the author, may Allah have mercy upon him, has only mentioned those Names that occur in the Qur'an and these come to a total of eighty-nine in his view.

Additional Names mentioned in Qur'an have been added from the work of ibn 'Uthaymin, Qawa'idu-l-Muthla fi Sifati-Allahi wa Asma'hi-l-Husna, bringing the toal to one hundred and three.

Before proceeding to the treatise some general principles with regards the Names of Allah, the Mighty and Magnificent are presented.

Where would such a practice take you except to the anger of Allah and his displeasure Provided He does not forgive you that is, and provided that you know that your Prophet, Muhammad used to encourage differing from the People of the Book in everything that was specific to them.

The Muslim children are raised upon loving their festivals of disbelief due to what is prepared in them of playful pastimes, new clothes, food, loaves of bread and other such things. What an evil teacher you are, O Muslim, if you do not prohibit your family and children from this and you do not explain to them that these are the practices of the disbelievers and that it is not permissible for us to join in with them or imitate them. Satan has adorned these practices for many of the ignorant masses and the negligent scholars.

How will you be able to look at the face of your Prophet tomorrow, on the Day of Judgment You have opposed his Sunnah and enacted the action of a disbelieving people, those who are misguided, those who are enemies of this religion!

O Allah Give life to our hearts through following the pure Sunnah, and extend Your tawfiq to us, do not leave us to our selves even for a minute, guide us to the Straight Path and save us from indecent deeds and innovations, the outward and hidden.

Explain about grave in light of authentic nas really gives you goosebumps. The author tells you about the punishment in grave which really "wake" you up. Various punishment for all sorts of sins creep me out when reading this book. The author also tell you bout the rewards and blessings in the grave that enlighten you, makes you really want to grasp all the rewards and blessings. How one's grave can be a comfort for him depending on his deeds in this world.
